A well-known travel agency in Trowbridge is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations and manage a small team. This position requires leadership experience in the travel industry, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of retail travel. The role includes motivating staff, building supplier relationships, and ensuring high customer service standards. The role offers a salary of up to £30,000 plus a bonus scheme.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of the retail travel industry is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of a GDS, preferably Sabre, is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the team to exceed sales targets and enhance customer service.
  • Manage shop merchandise and maintain social media presence.
  • Attend supplier events and build relationships with suppliers.
  • Report activity and sales figures to the operations director.
  • Conduct staff interviews, monthly catch-ups, and job reviews.
  • Be actively involved with bookings and contribute to sales.

Job description

General Manager required for an award-winning independent travel agency based in Wiltshire. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the office and managing a small team. This role is Monday to Friday with some Saturdays and pays a salary of up to £30,000 plus bonus.

General Manager responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate the team to hit and exceed sales targets and provide high levels of customer service
  • Take care of shop merchandise and ensure social media is up to date
  • Attend supplier events and develop relationships with suppliers
  • Report activity and sales figures to the operations director
  • Interview and recruit staff, conduct monthly catch ups and job reviews and constantly monitor and coach staff
  • Be hands on with bookings and contributing to sales
General Manager skills required
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Previous leadership experience in the travel industry
  • Sound knowledge of the retail travel industry
  • Working knowledge of a GDS - Sabre preferred
Additional information
  • Mon-Fri 9.30am-5.30pm and 2 Saturdays per month 9.30am-5pm
