We're hiring: General Manager University campus operations 12 month contract

Location: Harlow

Sector: Higher Education | Full-Time | Senior Leadership

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for creating vibrant, student-focused environments? We are looking for General Manager, where you'll oversee the heartbeat of campus lifefrom facilities and services to commercial operations and community engagement.

What Youll Be Responsible For

  • Leading day-to-day campus operations across accommodation, catering, retail, and events
  • Overseeing the full HR function for all staff to ensure high performing, engaged teams
  • Driving service excellence and operational efficiency across all touchpoints
  • Managing budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships with a commercial mindset
  • Collaborating with academic and administrative departments to enhance student experience and welfare
  • Acting as Safety Officer for the campus with direct responsibility for the safety of all staff & students
  • Organising facilities, resources, catering, staffing and logistics for all university and non-university functions and events
  • Liaising with Marketing and Communications to develop & implement the Universitys marketing plan
  • Championing sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation in campus services

What Were Looking For

  • Proven operational leadership in hospitality, facilities, education or campus operations
  • Exceptional people management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Financial acumen and experience with budgets
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for student wellbeing
  • Experience in higher education is a plusbut not essential
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the business which may include the occasional weekend
