Job Title: General Assistant

Location: Hinckley Hospital, LE10 1AG

Hours: 6 to 13:00

Pay Rate: £12.51

About the Role

As a General Assistant, you will thrive in a fast‑paced physical environment, playing a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and smooth operations within the hospital. Your work will directly impact the experience of both staff and patients, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and operational efficiency are upheld across the site.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Building and Site Management: Unlock the building each day, exchange large bins outside, and ensure safe and efficient acceptance and distribution of deliveries throughout the site. Assist with exchanging medical gases, maintain floors using industrial machines, flush water outlets as required, and support internal movement of equipment and furniture.
  • Customer Service: Handle all interactions with staff, visitors, and the public professionally, confidentially, and courteously, providing a positive experience for everyone who enters the hospital.
  • Communication and Coordination: Collect and deliver parcels to various departments, manage the smooth transfer of food trolleys to ward areas, and handle safe removal and storage of clinical and other household waste. Act as key contact for fire services and respond to lift/fire alarms as part of the emergency response team.
Ideally, you will have the following skills and experience
  • Experience in a fast‑paced physical environment
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Effective communication abilities
  • Certified in Manual Handling (ideally)
  • Attention to detail
