Job description

Gardener - West / North West London

£27,248

35 hours per week

Permanent | Full Time

We are working with a large housing provider to recruit a Gardener to support the upkeep and presentation of residential estates across North West London and Hertfordshire borders.

This is a hands‑on, outdoor role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining green spaces and enjoys visible, rewarding work. You'll be responsible for ensuring communal landscaped areas are well‑maintained, safe, and welcoming all year round. A company vehicle is provided, and you'll be based from a local hub.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled grounds maintenance across multiple estates
• Maintain lawns, hedges, borders, and planted areas
• Plant and maintain seasonal bedding and landscaped areas
• Weed, spray, leaf clear, and carry out seasonal horticultural tasks
• Operate and maintain powered and manual gardening equipment
• Apply and store chemicals safely in line with regulations
• Remove and dispose of green waste appropriately
• Assist with landscaping projects and estate improvements
• Respond to emergencies and report vandalism, defects, or hazards
• Adhere to health & safety requirements and wear PPE at all times

Requirements

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Previous experience in gardening or grounds maintenance
• Ability to use powered and manual horticultural equipment
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
• Good communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
• Basic understanding of health & safety
• PA1 / PA6a certificates desirable but not essential
• Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS check
