A leading educational institution is seeking a part-time Furniture Apprenticeship Vocational Tutor in Oxford. The role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons for apprenticeship programmes, guiding learners to achieve City and Guilds qualifications. Ideal candidates will have industry experience in furniture making and the ability to inspire students. A teaching qualification is preferred, but not mandatory for applicants willing to gain one.
About the role:
We are seeking an inspiring and motivated tutor to join the renowned Rycotewood Furniture Centre, part of our Createch faculty at City of Oxford College. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the next generation of furniture makers.
In this role, you will design and deliver engaging teaching at Levels 2 and 3 on our apprenticeship programmes, working with a diverse group of learners. You will support the continued growth of our apprenticeship provision and help learners build the technical expertise, confidence, and creativity they need to succeed in the furniture industry.
Your teaching will focus on nurturing learners' skills through innovative, practical, and creative lessons. Ultimately, you will be guiding students towards achieving their City and Guilds-accredited qualifications and developing into highly skilled, professional furniture makers.
This is a permanent, part-time role working 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE), based at our City of Oxford College campus.
What do you need to be successful as a Furniture Apprenticeship Vocational Tutor at Activate Learning?
We are looking for candidates who bring both professional expertise and a passion for sharing knowledge. To be successful in this role, you should have:
Ideally, a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent). However, if you do not hold a teaching qualification, we welcome applications from candidates who can inspire learners and are willing to gain one. Unqualified candidates would begin at a lower salary point, with progression discussed at interview if shortlisted.
In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
