Role Overview

Frontier Targeting Team Officer (FTTO) – a specialist post hosted within Kent Police, working with partner agencies to conduct National Security targeting and inform frontline activity in a national intelligence environment.

Responsibilities
  • Identify individuals or groups who may require examination under the Terrorism Act 2000.
  • Provide research and targeting intelligence to support frontline policing.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies across national, regional and local networks.
  • Prioritise workloads, make rapid decisions and communicate decision‑making rationale effectively.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with police/computer systems, secure database management and Microsoft Office.
  • Rapid learning of specialised databases and internet search engines.
  • Minimum education to GCSE level or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of CPIA disclosure issues, Human Rights Legislation, RIPA, the Data Protection Act and Terrorism Act legislation (desirable).
  • Previous intelligence‑related work experience desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undertake continuous professional development, including IPP certification within two years.
Requirements & Conditions
  • Minimum of SC vetting and commitment to maintain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
  • British Nationals only, with residence in the UK for the past ten years (overseas or diplomatic exemptions may apply).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for business purposes.
