Footwear Testing Technician (PPE)

Kettering, Northamptonshire | Salary up to £25,000 | 37.5 hours per week | Full-time

The Role

Working within a physical testing laboratory, you will be responsible for carrying out routine testing on footwear, footwear materials, and components, ensuring all work is completed accurately, safely, and in line with recognised standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Operating standard laboratory equipment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and test methods
  • Conducting physical testing of footwear, materials and components
  • Supporting laboratory and stores maintenance and general upkeep
  • Ensuring compliance with UKAS requirements, including maintaining personal training records
  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the laboratory
  • Working to deadlines while producing accurate, detailed test results
About You

You'll be organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a structured, technical environment.

Essential requirements
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science (NVQ Level 3)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible, positive and proactive 'can-do' attitude
Desirable experience
  • Previous experience in a physical testing or laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of footwear construction and materials
