We are working with a specialist SEN/PRU school in Yeovil that is dedicated to transforming education for pupils aged 7-16 years old with diverse needs, including:

  • Communication and interaction challenges
  • Cognition and learning difficulties
  • Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Sensory or physical needs

This school provides a safe, nurturing space for students who cannot attend mainstream education, including those at risk of exclusion or managing mental health challenges.

As a HLTA / Cover Supervisor, you’ll lead topic-based learning sessions with a strong focus on Food Technology. You’ll teach essential cooking skills, encourage creativity, and help students understand the world through practical, hands‑on lessons.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging Food Technology and general topic‑based lessons that build confidence and independence
  • Supporting pupils with SEN and behavioural needs in a positive, structured environment
  • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to create inclusive learning experiences
  • Using positive behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques
  • Enhanced Child‑Only DBS (on the Update Service) is desirable
  • Experience or qualifications in Food Technology or topic‑based learning
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • Previous SEN experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
  • Full‑time, term‑time only (Monday–Friday, 08:30–16:30)
