Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We're home to the most important conversations happening today and we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all. In recognition of the vital role our team plays in keeping citizens safe, we're growing the team and are recruiting to a number of additional EHO/Food Safety Officer roles. We're seeking fully qualified and authorised food safety professionals to join our dynamic food safety team. In addition, you will provide resilience for the wider ambitions of the Public Protection service to respond flexibly to deliver a broad range of environmental health and public health functions as required. Responsible for the enforcement of food safety (including hygiene and standards), and health and safety legislation in (primarily higher risk) food businesses, investigation of complaints and food borne illnesses, and supporting food businesses to improve. You will also develop and deliver special projects, policy, and research on areas of expertise and/or functional activity within the service. The role includes a substantial amount of autonomy, report writing, resolution, preventative and advisory work. The role is based in an enabled and empowered team-focused service where all officers are expected to work flexibly to meet evolving services demands. You will work as one team to assist in the development of a culture where knowledge, experience and responsibility for making decisions on complex issues is shared where appropriate.
You will have an excellent knowledge/understanding of the legislative framework relevant to the team, and experience in its application. You will deal with a wide range of casework including difficult and complex cases, resolving and delivering innovative interventions. To succeed, you will bring a track record of working collaboratively with internal and external partners, demonstrating good outcome‑focussed customer care and communicational skills to identify innovative and creative approaches to complaints and Camden objectives. You will have the ability to take an organised approach to your own workload whilst dealing with conflicting priorities, and to ensuring a customer service focused approach. We will also consider graduate EHOs/candidates who are in the process of completing their food safety qualifications to apply. If successful you will be offered a graduate/training position until you can be fully authorised.
Salary: £46,006 - £52,329 (plus Retention Package / Market Supplement for fully qualified officers including 7% salary enhancement, monthly travel card allowance, £2000 new employee welcome payment, all depending on qualifications)
