We are the largest provider of repairs, maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears offers tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnerships with over 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations, and Housing Associations.
About the Role:
As a Floor Layer, you will work alongside Dover Council, providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of teamwork for the community.
Your duties include a range of flooring tasks requiring specific skills and attention to detail. These include renewing sheet vinyl, which involves measuring, cutting, laying flat, and sealing seams for durability. When working with tiles, including ceramic, you’ll need to cut tiles precisely, apply mortar or adhesive, and ensure even alignment. Grouting and sealing tiles are essential for a polished finish. Installing cap and cove wet room floors involves creating a waterproof, seamless surface that curves up the walls to prevent water ingress, requiring precise cutting and joint sealing. Proper preparation, including cleaning, repairing, and priming the floor surface, is crucial. Applying self-levelling compounds or screed involves mixing, pouring, and spreading evenly, then curing properly. Each task demands a thorough understanding of materials and techniques to achieve a professional, durable finish.
Role Criteria:
All roles require candidates to have the right to work in the UK. Mears does not offer visa sponsorship. To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your licence for more than 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
All roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
