Job description

Our client, an award winning main contractor, are looking for a finishing manager for a 3 month contract in Swanley. As Finishing Manager, you will oversee all internal and external finishing works on a new care home development. You will drive quality, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure every detail—from joinery and decoration to M&E final fixes and snagging—is completed to the highest standards. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong leadership, and a thorough understanding of compliance and care-sector requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all finishing trades, including joinery, decoration, flooring, tiling, M&E final fix, fixtures & fittings, and external works.
  • Oversee room-by-room completion, ensuring finished areas meet care-sector standards, building regulations, and client expectations.
  • Lead snagging and de-snagging processes; produce snag lists, supervise rectification works, and track progress to completion.
  • Maintain a strict focus on quality, health & safety, fire stopping, acoustics, and infection‑control-friendly finishes.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to align finishing progress with overall programme timelines.
  • Coordinate daily tasks with subcontractors, ensuring adequate labour and resources on‑site.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact programme or handover.
  • Ensure all documentation, room data sheets, O&M requirements and installation records are completed accurately.
  • Liaise with clients, care providers, and consultants during inspections, demonstrating completed works professionally.
  • Support the seamless final commissioning and handover process of the care home.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a Finishing Manager, Finishing Foreman, Site Manager, or similar within construction.
  • Experience working on care homes, residential developments, hospitals, or similar high‑spec, multi‑room projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of finishing trades, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised site.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship and client satisfaction.
  • CSCS card required; SMSTS / SSSTS preferred.
