Job Description

The Financial Reporting Analyst will play a critical role within the Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Accounting & Financial Reporting. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, VAT returns and statutory financial statements for multiple entities including consolidations. The role also oversees transactional accounting activities performed by the offshore accounting team, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, FRS 101, FRS 102) and internal controls. The role acts as a key link between finance, audit, and business stakeholders, driving process improvements and supporting informed financial decision‑making.

This role is based from our Reading Office where you will be expected to attend at least 2 days a week (Which days , can be flexible).

Role responsibilities :
  • Month‑End Reporting : Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow) for trading and holding entities using a consolidation system including intercompany reconciliations and group eliminations.
  • Statutory Reporting : Prepare standalone and consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102 standards.
  • Treasury & Banking : Support daily cash management activities, monitor offshore accounts payable transactions, and assist with cash forecasting and treasury activities.
  • Balance Sheet & Controls : Perform key balance sheet reconciliations, including debtors and bad debt provision calculations, analyse working capital, and post monthly journals in SAP to ensure robust financial control.
  • Functional P&L Ownership : Manage and report on P&L for designated business areas, fostering strong relationships with budget holders to support accurate forecasting and financial insights.
  • Tax & VAT Compliance : Prepare quarterly VAT returns and annual corporation tax information packs for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Audit Support : Act as a key contact for external auditors, coordinating and preparing audit requests, providing supporting documentation, and assisting with audit testing.
  • Technical Accounting & Policy : Support the preparation of accounting memos and help to maintain up‑to‑date group accounting policies. Contribute to ad hoc technical accounting projects and keeping up to date with financial reporting and regulatory changes.
  • Process Improvement : Identify control weaknesses and recommend process enhancements to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Qualifications
Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with experience preparing statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101, including exposure to group consolidations.
  • Demonstrated experience in month‑end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience of preparing VAT returns and corporation tax filings.
  • Proficient in SAP (or equivalent ERP system) and experienced in using a consolidation system such as IBM Cognos. Proficient in MS Word.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including lookups, IF statements, dynamic formulas, and advanced pivot tables) and exposure to Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience working with offshore finance teams or shared service centres is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and workload management skills, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality outputs. Up‑to‑date on financial reporting developments.
  • Closing date for this role will be Wednesday 26th November with a 2 interview process.
