Job Title: Financial Controller – Continental Europe

Location: UK/Spain/Italy/Poland

About the role

We’re hiring a Financial Controller to manage and support our in country Financial Controllers in Continental Europe. In this role you will manage all Financial and Controlling matters in for the cluster entities across BSI across all divisions and functions. Also, you will interact with local management, local auditors and group auditors (for in scope countries).

As well as contributing to solving complex business problems beyond the team, delegating and collaborating on solving finance technical issues.

You will manage a team of 5 Financial Controllers across Italy, Germany, Poland and Spain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership and responsibility for the financial accounting and reporting of cluster entities; ensuring timely, accurate and comprehensive information to the Group and key stakeholders of the business in accordance with the Group’s Finance Manual.
  • Simplify, streamline and lead on documentation of local process ahead of transfer to FBS (Finance Business Services). Support on suggestions around sequencing of transition activity.
  • Overall Responsibility for BSI Local accounting and taxation compliance requirements.
  • Works with GPOs to drive efficiency in process to improve compliance within group reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure all local tax deadline are met for the cluster entities and are compliant with local legislation in conjunction with the group tax team.
  • Ensures the global financial framework is maintained and actively looks to resolve and control failures in conjunction with head of global financial controls and GPOs
  • On a monthly basis reviews balance sheet and cash flows for given entities of control and ensures materials changes or variances to expected are investigated and understood. In addition to gaining a good understanding of working capital movements for the given entities.
  • Where significant accounting matters (SAM) are identified, works with local team to prepare comprehensive accounting papers for review by the group reporting team.
  • Ensures business understands the local financial reporting, local taxation and internal control implications of operational decisions.
About You
  • Previous experience within a similar regional role.
  • Full Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA/FCA/CIMA/ACA).
  • IFRS Knowledge.
  • Confident, capable and credible with effective influencing and persuasiveness skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relay financial information to the required stakeholders, solve conflicts and negotiate.
  • Experienced in people management, ideally remotely.
  • Previous experience working in a matrix organisation.
