Financial Controller – Property Developer.

West Midlands.

Salary : £85,000 + bonus, car and benefits.

Cognisant is partnering with a highly respected property developer in the West Midlands who are looking to appoint a Financial Controller to join their growing business. This is a great opportunity for a qualified and commercially focused accountant to take control of managing a small team whilst supporting the Finance Director on broader commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities include :
  • Lead and support the finance team, embedding best practice, accountability, and process improvement.
  • Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounts across multiple development sites.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management, providing robust analysis on site performance, build costs, sales progress and margin delivery.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, audit compliance and governance processes, ensuring adherence to land acquisition, development and construction finance policies.
  • Partner with Commercial, Land, Technical and Construction teams to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions and support decision-making on new and existing developments.
  • Manage treasury, working capital and bank reporting, ensuring effective liquidity management throughout each project lifecycle.

You’ll be a qualified accountant with demonstrable experience operating within the housebuilding sector. You will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with commercial acumen and the ability to challenge and influence at a senior level.
