Job description

We're looking for a Financial Accountant to support the delivery of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to our HQ Accounting team, internal reporting for management, assisting the operational management of all internal and external audit activity across multiple stakeholders throughout our business.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Key contributor to the monthly submission of the financial package to the HQ Accounting team for VWFS entities, including the preparation of internal reporting schedules with comparisons to forecast and the timely resolution of reporting queries from the HQ Accounting Team.
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the general ledger in SAP FI.
  • Proactively supporting organisational projects and change as an SME. Performance of month end processes and posting of journals to complete the month end position where required. This includes working with other areas of the business to ensure all required journals are accurately posted in line with the month end timetable.
  • Providing information and analysis to auditors (internal and external) for quarterly, interim and year end audits. Working alongside other areas of the business to ensure audit requests are fulfilled on a timely basis.
  • Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations including the identification of any risks on individual balance sheet accounts and the resolution of issues.
  • Responsibility for understanding and completing reporting tasks including managing and posting journals for payroll, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and contingent provisions.
  • Working with the FRM to complete the annual statutory accounts.
  • Ensuring all procedures, ARIS maps and IDP's are completed and up to date as required.
  • Support the Financial Reporting Manager through coaching and training the other members of the team and supporting them with understanding and completing processes as and when necessary, be able to cover and deputise as and when required.

You're a fully qualified Accountant ACCA, CIMA, ACA with detailed technical accounting knowledge and understanding in particular, in banking and financial services. You'll be focused on detail, accuracy and data quality, but you'll also be able to understand outputs in the context of other reporting and business knowledge.

Essential experience & skills
  • You have experience dealing with a varied and large number of inputs and collating them into final submissions.
  • Demonstrable experience of month end reporting and preparing accounts under IFRS.
  • Experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Competent with Microsoft office products and Advanced Excel skills.
  • If you already have working knowledge of SAP FI this is preferable and would be a huge benefit.
  • You have thorough knowledge of balance sheet account reconciliations and controls, and how they fit into the overall reporting process.
  • Sound decision maker even when under pressure and you can prioritise ensuring quality data is delivered to strict deadlines.
  • You're able to effectively manage and influence stakeholders to ensure accuracy, productivity and efficiency while ensuring compliant working practices.
