Job summary

A financial recruitment firm is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant for a 6-month contract in Shrewsbury. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, supporting statutory accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Ideal candidates will be qualified accountants with strong financial knowledge and communication skills. Flexibility with office presence required once or twice a month.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience preferred; part qualified candidates or those who are QBE will be considered.

Overview

RM Recruit is working in partnership with a valued client to recruit an experienced Interim Financial Accountant for a period of up to 6 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional seeking a varied role that offers flexibility, with office presence required once/twice per month.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting statutory accounts preparation, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.

Responsibilities

Main duties include:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.


• Support the production of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.


• Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls are in place.


• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.


• Provide financial insights and support to senior management.


• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies.


• Support ad hoc projects and process improvements as required.


• Manage a team of two assistant accountants

Candidate profile

As the ideal candidate, you will be a Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience however, Part qualified or candidates who are QBE will be considered. You will possess strong technical knowledge of financial accounting and reporting and have poven ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid environment. You will have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills and be a confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
