Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a respected financial services business unit in Milton Keynes, supporting their operations during a period of staff absence.

Job Title: Financial Accountant

Rate: £250 per day (Umbrella)

Contract Length: 3 months

Location: Milton Keynes

Working Pattern: 3 days in office, 2 days remote

Responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for preparing and maintaining accurate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all entries are complete and timely in line with month-end deadlines.
  • Investigate and resolve historic differences within reconciliations, providing clear supporting documentation and commentary as required to maintain transparency and audit trails.
  • Perform analytical reviews across reconciled accounts, identifying unexpected movements or inconsistencies and escalating issues promptly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Align all reconciliation activities with internal controls and accounting policies, proactively monitoring for potential risks or areas requiring improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reconciliation processes, contributing ideas that enhance efficiency within the finance function.
  • Set up journals within Microsoft D365 to correct balances where necessary, ensuring all adjustments are properly approved and documented.
  • Build strong working relationships with operations teams to ensure lease portfolio reconciliations are maintained accurately, addressing discrepancies directly and collaboratively.
Previous Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in producing detailed balance sheet reconciliations within a financial services or similar environment over at least two years.
  • Proven track record of supporting external audits by preparing documentation, responding to queries promptly, and maintaining clear audit trails.
  • Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis alongside familiarity with finance house systems such as Microsoft D365.
