Job description

One of my top law firm clients are looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team. Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller, this role is ideal for a fully qualified, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment within a varied role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in producing annual audited financial statements (FRS 102) for multiple entities.
  • Collaborate with audit teams and international offices to ensure efficient audit completion.
  • Support bank covenant reporting and multi-year forecasting.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Contribute to month-end close, management accounts, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Assisting in the delivery of the annual budget and business planning.
  • Partner with business services directors to manage financials and control costs.
  • Produce commission statements for fee earners.
  • Liaise with tax teams on partner matters, R&D credits, and transfer pricing.
  • Oversee Payment Practices reporting and authorise payments.
  • Support intercompany reconciliation and financial integration of overseas operations.
  • Lead or support ad hoc financial projects and investigations.

Skills & Experience:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (ideally FRS 102).
  • Experience in professional services or law firms is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Elite 3E and Xcelerate is a plus.
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, modern approach.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing high volumes of work under pressure.
  • Able to take ownership of projects with support from senior managers.
