Overview

Finance Officer | 8907 | Fixed Term Contract until 30 April 2027 | 37 hours per week | £39,862 to £41,771 per annum (Scale J) | County Hall, Norwich/Hybrid

We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council and play a key role in helping to deliver a first class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation.

Norfolk County Council is the main local authority for Norfolk, providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We take a lead in critical policy areas and work in partnership with local businesses, voluntary organisations and other local authorities to provide excellent services to the people of Norfolk.

Our Budgeting and Accounting Team is a critical part of the organisation, providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure accountability as a council and value for money for taxpayers. You will join a large and complex environment undergoing transformational change and work with a proactive team that supports the council’s long-term objectives.

The role is a full-time, grant-funded post, initially on a fixed-term basis until April 2027. The core focus is to work closely with Adult Social Care service leads to support transformational change projects, both externally and internally funded.

Responsibilities
  • Provide management and financial accounting information and analyse financial and non-financial data.
  • Communicate findings to colleagues across the organisation to support strategic decision making.
  • Work as part of the Budgeting and Accounting Team to support the council’s budgeting and accounting functions during a period of transformational change.
Qualifications
  • Proven background as a Finance Officer or similar role.
  • AAT qualified or part-qualified at CCAB level.
  • Able to work within a finance team and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to present information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
