Overview

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE £60,000 - £72,000 plus £5441 London Weighting and up to 15% bonus, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the role

As BBC Commercial embarks on an ambitious journey to double cash flow and expand its Content Studio, we are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the implementation of our Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework. This role is critical in ensuring financial reporting risks are effectively managed, governance standards are upheld, and robust controls are embedded to support accurate and reliable reporting across our commercial operations.

Your key responsibilities and impact
  • Support the design and rollout of a new ICFR framework for BBC Commercial, aligned with BBC Group standards.
  • Lead process workshops and create detailed documentation of financial reporting risks, controls, and IT dependencies.
  • Conduct walkthroughs and control design effectiveness testing across key Financial Statement Line Items (FSLIs).
  • Assist with operational effectiveness testing and remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Prepare annual ICFR scoping and contribute to Group-level attestation processes.
  • Deliver ICFR training and raise awareness of framework requirements across teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, supporting finance projects and liaising with BBC Group ICFR stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 5+ years' experience in ICFR/SOX or Audit, including developing and monitoring financial controls.
  • Proven expertise in SOX/ICFR implementation: process mapping, risk assessment, controls design, and remediation.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for presenting risks, processes, and controls clearly.
  • Excellent project management with ability to deliver on time and follow through.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to translate risk into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and ability to explain financial controls to senior and non-finance audiences.
Desired but not required
  • Controls-design effectiveness testing.
  • Experience of change management within an organisation, particularly in relation to implementing new frameworks and processes.
