We are seeking a motivated Finance Manager to join our Finance team. The role will support our Adult Social Care & Housing Directorate to deliver their vision: for people to live fulfilled, healthy, independent lives in the place they call home.

This is a key leadership role, supporting the Group Accountant, and managing a team to deliver flexible and professional financial services that enable effective budget management and informed decision‑making across the Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop staff within the Finance team, ensuring high performance and continuous professional development.
  • Represent Finance at meetings with Members, senior officers, and external organisations, providing expert advice on financial implications of policy and service delivery.
  • Provide professional financial services to managers across the Council, including consulting on requirements and formulating proposals to enhance service delivery and financial performance.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and complete financial statements, grant claims, and statutory returns within deadlines.
  • Drive best practice and innovation, supporting cultural change in budget monitoring and financial management processes.
About You
  • Qualified CCAB Accountant (or equivalent experience with willingness to complete qualification).
  • Extensive knowledge of budget preparation, monitoring, year‑end accounting, and current accounting standards.
  • Experience in staff management and supervision.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure and meet deadlines.

This role is available on a permanent basis.
