Job description

We're seeking a hands-on and proactive Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a small group of regional Health Clubs. This is a varied and rewarding role for a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / AAT) who enjoys taking ownership, improving systems, and supporting senior management with meaningful financial insight.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all daily accounting functions including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and VAT (including partial exemption calculations).
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reports for senior management and support cash flow forecasting and budgeting.
  • Manage payroll, employment contracts, HR support, pension administration, and statutory compliance.
  • Authorise and process supplier and employee payments; manage banking operations and group fund movements.
  • Oversee recharges of shared costs, overhead allocations, intercompany loan reconciliations, and tracking of dividends, loans, and leases.
  • Manage statutory company filings and company registrations.
  • Assist in developing and strengthening internal controls, purchasing protocols, and expense claim procedures.
  • Manage year end procedures and liaise with external accountants, HMRC, and advisors as needed.
Qualifications
  • ACCA, ACA or AAT qualified (or part-qualified) with solid experience in a finance management or senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of group accounting, intercompany transactions, and management reporting.
  • Confident managing payroll, VAT, and compliance matters.
  • Organised, methodical and comfortable working independently across multiple entities.
  • A good communicator who can build strong relationships across the business.
