Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) to join our finance team in this brand new role. It's based in our Swindon Head Office and we can offer hybrid working with three days in the office and two from home. It's a full time position but we would consider reduced hours and a four day working week. This is a key role covering tax, treasury, statutory reporting, audit, and cash flow management. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring robust financial control and providing critical insight into the business’s financial performance, particularly around cash flow forecasting and treasury management.
Responsibilities
- Cash Flow & Treasury: Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts, comparing actuals against forecasts, and identify pinch points with recommended actions. Manage weekly drawdowns of hedges and oversee the monthly placement of new hedges. Monitor daily cash balances and ensure liquidity is effectively managed.
- Tax Compliance: Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements. Assist with the preparation of annual corporation tax computations and work with external advisors to ensure compliance.
- Statutory Reporting & Audit: Lead on the preparation of annual statutory accounts in accordance with FRS 102. Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure a smooth and timely completion. Prepare supporting schedules and respond to audit queries.
- Financial Control & Business Support: Ensure all tax, treasury, and reporting processes are compliant with internal controls and external regulations. Provide insight and recommendations to senior management on cash flow and treasury risk. Drive process improvements within finance to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capability.
Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Experience in cash flow forecasting, treasury, and hedging activities.
- Strong technical knowledge of VAT, corporation tax, and FRS 102 statutory reporting.
- Previous experience managing audit processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving ability and proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial issues.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance financial control with business needs.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
