A remote accountancy practice in the UK is seeking a proactive Portfolio Finance Director. The role involves leading finance services for biotech clients and ensuring high-quality delivery of financial support. Candidates should possess ACA or ACCA qualifications, significant experience in the Pharma/Biotech sector, and strong Excel skills. This is a full-time remote position with flexible arrangements.
POSITION SUMMARY
A proactive and dedicated Portfolio Finance Director who will beresponsible for ensuring the highest quality of finance services are delivered to all our clients. This role would report to the CFO and lead a small team that delivers finance services to biotech clients.
COMPANY SUMMARY
Archangel Accounting is a chartered accountancy practice registered with the ICAEW providing clients with a range of services including fully outsourced finance functions through to CFO level support. We support clients in both Europe and the US. The company is virtual, and working is remote so employees can be based anywhere. Our clients are predominately in the pharmaceutical start up sector with strong relationship with key VCs in the biotech space.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Finance Director level support to clients.
To develop key relationships with our clients and a good understanding of their businesses potentially including board support and attending board meetings for some of our clients.
To provide day to day management of clients requests and queries, delegating these where appropriate to members of the Archangel team
To ensure the Archangel team deliver to all agreed timelines according to a monthly delivery schedule including clients management accounts and all statutory filing deadlines
To take an active lead in all client budget setting exercises, working with our clients to ensure a quality budget model is implemented and agreed
To assist with international clients including group consolidations and liasing with overseas tax advisors and auditors.
To take the lead in client year end audits, working with audit firms to ensure the delivery of smooth and efficient audits including organising and leading clients audit committee meetings and minutes.
Support the CFO with client’s investment rounds and transactions as they arise
To manage statutory books and records and Companies House for our clients
To mange share option schemes for our clients including HMRC compliance, employee communications, maintaining records and producing share calculations where required
Proactively improve and develop Archangel processes, software and client reporting
To assist in developing and training the Archangel team where appropriate and acting as a mentor to aid their development
Assist the CFO in all other ad hoc accounting areas.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ACA or ACCA Accounting qualification
Bachelor's degree (at least 2:1) from a good university
Several years experience in practice and managing client work
Significant industry experience working at Finance Director level with the Pharma/Biotech sector
Strong skills and experience with limited company statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and self assessment returns, including a deep understanding of FRS102 and UK tax compliance.
Experience of the biotech sector R&D tax credits and equity and share based payment accounting would be desirable.
Strong excel skills including modelling and professional reporting.
