A prominent disability charity in Poole is seeking a Female Support Worker to provide support to a deafblind individual. The role involves assisting with daily activities, community engagement, and requires a full UK driver’s license. Benefits include annual leave, pension contributions, and ample training opportunities. Applicants should be caring, empathetic, and enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of others.
We are looking for a Female Support Worker to join our supported living service based in Hamworthy, Poole.
For genuine occupational reasons we are looking to appoint a female candidate only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).
We provide support between 7am – 10pm so this role will include a mixture of days, evenings, shifts and possible sleep‑in shifts. The role will also include weekend work (every other weekend). These 36 hours are split across the 7 days and can differ every week depending on the schedule of activities.
The individual you will support is confident and enthusiastic about going out in the community. She is deafblind and holds a tenancy for her own home.
This individual has a team to support her 24/7 with 6hrs daily 2:1 support for community access plus a sleep‑in staff member. She communicates with BSL signs, PECs (Pictorial Exchange System), photos and gestures, and she is energetic, fun‑loving with a full weekly schedule of activities that include walks, café visits, trampolining, cinema, Gateway Club, regular short breaks and holidays. She also enjoys ad‑hoc activities like theatre, themed days out such as the winter garden lights in Bournemouth and fireworks.
You must hold a full UK driver’s licence and be willing to drive a Sense vehicle for this role.
No two days will be the same.
