Overview

We are looking for 2 Farm Environment Advisers to join our Somerset and Gloucestershire teams. Our committed and capable Advisers have responsibilities to provide high-quality advice and support for farmers in a whole-farm context; considering resource protection, habitat and species conservation, soil and nutrient management, regulatory and legislative compliance, protection of archaeological features and landscape value – all as part of a profitable farm business. There is growing demand for our services helping advise farmers on agroecological practices to build resilience against climate change.

Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate and undertake the delivery of independent, objective and professional whole-farm advice on agroecological practices, environmental management and other land related matters to farmers and land managers
  • Prepare grant applications, write farm reports and management plans
  • Contribute to the development of different income streams and hold budget responsibility for smaller projects
  • Develop and deliver engaging farm walks and workshops and other events
  • Attend partnership meetings to represent FWAG SW, demonstrating expertise, increasing organisational visibility and building relationships
Qualifications / Experience
  • Have experience in agri-environmental advice provision to farmers and can communicate inspiringly and persuasively
  • Have a passion for and a detailed understanding of the countryside, especially landscape, wildlife, water and air quality
  • Can identify funding opportunities and work collaboratively with partners, contractors and colleagues
  • Enjoy building strong partnerships through action

Salary: £29,000 - £35,000 pa
