Children and Families Family Worker (Adolescent Support) Ref: 001226 Contract: Fixed Term (12 months) Salary : £31,537 £34,434 per annum (Grade 5) Hours:
36.66 per week Location: Spindles Closing Date: Sunday 1st February 2026 Interview Date: Sunday 1st February 2026 Role Overview: Working within a team, to undertake intensive casework support for children and their families.

The focus of the job is to work in partnership with families who are experiencing challenging circumstances, in order to achieve positive outcomes and lasting change for the whole family.

The post holder will have responsibility for holding cases and ensuring the coordinated support of other relevant agencies as required, including developing multi-agency support plans for families.

Committed to using strength based creative approaches the post holder will build trusting relationships with families that enable challenge and support; they will help build resilience, self-reliance, and improve family life and children’s outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assessments, in partnership with family members, to identify and understand the unique strengths, assets and challenges faced by the family and analyse this to create a plan of work.
  • Contribute to multi-agency planning around the family, attending and contributing to multi-agency meetings relating to children and families, including those organised as part of social care processes.
  • Where necessary, act as an advocate for children and families, mediating where relationships are difficult within families or between families and professionals, and providing professional challenge to other services if required.
  • Provide sustained support for family members to develop the skills which will enable them to improve their own independence and resilience and improve outcomes for their children.
  • Work closely with the multi-agency partnership, such as schools, health services, youth justice, voluntary agencies and RISE to ensure the appropriate delivery of family support for adolescents and their families.
  • Engage with children and young people, and families, using a holistic approach to include them in planning, decision making and goal setting.
  • Empower children, young people and families to contribute to the development of the service through evaluation, consultation, and feedback of services provided.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of providing direct support to children and families with complex lives which may include mental health, offending, substance misuse, domestic abuse.
  • Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with children, families and other professionals.
  • Experience of using assessment tools to analyse family dynamics which inform bespoke plans and appropriate interventions based on evidence.
  • Completed the GM Elevate (Leadership Development) Programme (please indicate in application).
