An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic Events team at Hampshire County Council. The team provide a very diverse support role, with meetings, events and ceremonies taking place across the complex, which boasts over 80 meeting rooms with varying levels of specialist AV equipment. The Events team work closely with staff and external customers to ensure that meetings and events run smoothly and successfully.

The Role:

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional events and creating memorable experiences? We’re looking for a proactive and customer-focused FM Officer to join our Facilities Management team. This hands-on role blends behind-the-scenes coordination with front-of-house service, ensuring the seamless delivery of meetings, functions, and events across our facilities.

Teamwork is an essential requirement of the role, enabling the team to be robust in providing an excellent standard of customer service and you will help guide them to meet their goals and oversee their success. You will support the team as they carry out their day-to-day duties and have a hands-on approach during busy times. Overall, the team change layouts, set up AV equipment, assist staff booking rooms and manage aspects of the room booking software along with meeting organisers to discuss their requirements for larger events. We also operate webcasting equipment for several internal meetings, so they can be watched live on the internet by interested members of the public.

What you’ll do:
  • Oversee the day to day running of the office
  • Support the team to be able to carry out their duties
  • Liaise with staff and customers to ensure all meetings and events are successful
  • Ensure all out of hour meetings are staffed and be responsible for the monthly rota
  • Provide managerial support to the team, e.g. carrying out one-to-ones
  • Financial responsibilities for room hire reimbursement
  • Provide support to the Senior FM Officer

We’re looking for someone who is confident, dependable, and experienced in a similar role. You’ll be a strong team player with proven managerial skills and a genuine commitment to excellent customer service. Your communication skills will help you build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and handle situations professionally and effectively.

You will have good organisational skills and have a flexible approach to be able to respond positively when faced with challenges. Have sound IT skills and have a willingness to learn new systems and processes. The role can be very demanding during peak periods, with flexible working necessary along with overtime opportunities in the evenings and at weekends.
