Job description

GSL Education are working closely with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Harlow who are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 1 : 1 with an autistic child in EYFS.

This is a long-term, full-time position and a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference during a child’s crucial early years, within a school that is supportive, inclusive, and well-regarded locally.

The Role
  • Provide consistent 1 : 1 support to a child with Autism in an EYFS setting
  • Support learning through play-based and structured activities
  • Help with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in the classroom
  • Support transitions, routines, and sensory needs throughout the school day
  • Maintain a calm, nurturing, and safe learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with Autism and / or SEN , ideally within EYFS or primary settings
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2 / 3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or SEN) are desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
