Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced receptionist with administrative skills, to join our friendly, forward thinking practice team, to work 24 hours a week and provide a high quality service to our 11,300 patients. You will be required to work at Welling. We are a GP training Practice (Bexley & Sidcup VTS).

IT: EMIS Web & Docman in use. Training can be arranged if not familiar with the system.

Job Responsibilities
  • Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
  • Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
  • Making patients aware of the appointment booking procedure
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
  • Taking messages and passing on information accurately
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
  • Re-stock consulting rooms as required
  • Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
  • Processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures following Data Protection
  • Providing clerical assistance including word/data processing, filing and photocopying
