We are the leading news and events platform for the creative, marketing, and tech sectors in the North.

Our well-established events programme, from intimate editorial roundtables to large-scale awards, brings together the region’s most innovative agencies, brands, and leaders.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Events & Marketing, the Events & Operations Manager will play a central role in delivering our busy annual events calendar (20+ events per year) and supporting the wider commercial and editorial teams on key editorial or sponsor-led initiatives.

This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments, is highly organised, and enjoys managing multiple events and projects simultaneously. The role is weighted towards events delivery but encompasses broader commercial project management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Events Management

Deliver end‑to‑end management of multiple events running in parallel, including:

  • 4 awards - Champions, Marketing, Creative and Tech Awards
  • 3–4 conferences including Prolific North Live and the Northern Marketing Festival
  • Numerous editorial‑led events and smaller roundtables (10+ attendees)
  • Source and negotiate with venues across the North of England to optimise cost and maximise event profit margins.
  • Manage all event logistics, timelines, budgets, and supplier coordination.
  • Work closely with marketing on event communications, ticket sales, and audience development.
  • Manage event ticket sales, guest lists etc (via Eventbrite or internal processes)
  • Utilise key marketing tactics to promote the events and drive awareness and ticket sales
  • Support sponsor activation and ensure sponsor deliverables are met.
  • Attend all events onsite with some taking place in the evenings and finishing late.
Commercial Operations & Project Support
  • Support the delivery of non‑event commercial projects, such as The Northern Agency Guide
  • Assist with commercial team operations and occasional support for sales processes.
  • Provide structured project management across internal stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables.
Success Measures
  • Strong event profit margins
  • Positive attendee and sponsor feedback
  • Smooth delivery of multiple concurrent events
  • Strong collaboration across marketing and sales teams
Skills & Experience

Required:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in event management, ideally including awards or large B2B events
  • Proven ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Experience in logistics, timelines, and cross‑team coordination
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to anticipate issues before they arise
  • Experience using digital marketing tactics such as emails and social media for promotional reasons/driving sales.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of the Northern creative, marketing, digital, or tech industries (ideal but not essential)
  • Negotiation experience or vendor/supplier management background
  • Familiarity with commercial event KPIs
  • Experience supporting sponsor activations
  • UK drivers licence
