A leading civil engineering firm is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their team in Chesterfield. In this role, you will manage the preparation and submission of tenders, conduct detailed analysis of costs, and collaborate closely with various stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have a construction background, strong communication skills, and experience with civil engineering projects. We are now on the lookout for an Estimator or Senior Estimator to work out of our Tamworth or Chesterfield office. The main purpose of this role is to deal with the preparation, processing and submission of tenders for contracts by calculating the costs involved in supplying a product or service that meets the client’s technical specification.A full UK driving licence is essential as there may be some travel to Huntingdon, Peterborough, or similar. There will be the occasional need to attend meetings and reviews at head office in Ipswich. This role will report directly to the Pre-Contracts Director who is based at Head office in Ipswich.
Manage and co-ordinate information for bids and tenders within designated area
Researching materials, equipment and labour costs
Gain and understanding of what the client’s needs are
Collecting quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors
Planning job timescales
Assessing and advising on commercial risk and involvement in review/ input to quality submissions
Preparing and submitting quotations for work
Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities
Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts and •Clearly convey the financial elements of a tender to site staff at tender handover

A construction background and an understanding of estimating techniques is required as well as a sound knowledge of spreadsheets.
An ambitious individual with great communication skills, who is confident with a flexible approach
Must have experience working on civil engineering schemes with a main contractor.
The role will involve detailed analysis of direct and indirect costs along with regular reporting on the progress of tenders at all stages, whilst working to strict deadlines in order to achieve desirable results.
Candidates must be eligibile to work in the UK.
