Estates Technician

Temporary / Hourly Paid Role

Location: North Wales, Denbighshire (further education college campus)

Pay Rate: Competitive (hourly, PAYE)

About the Role: We are working with an FE college in Denbighshire that is looking to recruit an Estates Technician to support the safety, security, and maintenance of its campus facilities. This is a hands on, practical role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular security patrols and lock checks ensuring buildings are secure and safe
  • Carry out fire and first-aid checks, and general safety inspections
  • Perform general maintenance work, such as minor repairs, moving furniture, and basic upkeep across campus buildings and grounds
  • Assist with facility set ups and moving equipment or furniture as needed
  • Support any additional caretaking duties required to maintain a clean, safe, accessible campus environment

Typical working hours: Monday to Thursday (08:30) and Friday (08:00)

The initial assignment is for approximately 3 months, with the possibility of extension depending on need.

Driving requirement: A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as the role may require travel around campus sites and external visits.

Who We’re Looking For
Required
  • Proven experience in caretaking, estates, maintenance or security roles ideally within a school, college, or similar facilities environment
  • A full UK driving licence and own transport
  • Ability and willingness to perform manual tasks, including moving furniture or equipment safely
  • A proactive and reliable approach able to carry out patrols, checks, and maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (i.e. ability to record checks, report faults, complete simple paperwork)
Desirable
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting (school, college, campus)
  • Basic handyman or multi skilled maintenance capabilities (e.g. general repairs, light carpentry, plumbing, decoration)
  • Awareness of health and safety, fire safety procedures, and ability to conduct safety checks confidently
  • Flexibility to respond to ad hoc maintenance needs, occasional after-hours or weekend tasks if required
