Job description
Overview

The Estates Engineer (Mechanical) is the senior estates professional responsible to the Senior Engineer for the overall leadership and performance of mechanical & building fabrics engineering building services. Responsible for ensuring that Mechanical & fabrics engineering maintenance, including contract/capital work, is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications, and for addressing any non-compliance with legal, statutory and mandatory regulations in respect of the Estate.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that critical plant equipment and systems are available at all times and establish contingency plans to be available in the event of failure.
  • Oversee Building Management System updating and monitoring, making additions, deletions or other changes as necessary.
  • Undertake Estates condition surveys, specifications, commissioning and supervision of maintenance related M&E and building works.
  • Assist with building and maintaining resilience into all aspects of emergency preparedness by developing existing arrangements and creating new strategies and plans as required. Ensure the organisation can respond appropriately and as required to major incidents along with business continuity situations that maintain critical services against a wide range of abnormal events.
  • Adept at exchanging maintenance and technical project-related information with specialists and non-specialists, with a proven track record of successful negotiations with contractors, suppliers, etc.
