POSITION SUMMARY

Borden Dairy is seeking a safety-driven, people-focused professional to join our team as an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager. This critical role is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining comprehensive EHS programs across our manufacturing facility and associated DSD/Transportation branches. The EHS Manager ensures full compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

This position plays a key role in executing safety initiatives, standardizing best practices, and driving performance to reduce workplace incidents, vehicle accidents, and injury-related costs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to all federal, state, and local food safety standards.
  • Oversee and support key programs, including:
    • Process Safety Management (PSM)
    • Wastewater Discharge Program
    • Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP) Plan
    • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Program
  • Manage and monitor workers’ compensation and vehicle claims; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits and regulatory agency interactions.
  • Stay current on technical and regulatory requirements; ensure company standards meet or exceed legal obligations.
  • Conduct new hire safety, ongoing training, and coaching to promote safety awareness.
  • Lead and administer the site’s safety and security programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Implement and monitor safety performance standards and reporting processes.
  • Conduct and follow up on risk assessments to ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
  • Champion safety initiatives across the manufacturing facility and distribution branches.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on safety and security policies.
  • Lead the Safety Committee to drive continuous improvement and build organizational capability.
  • Travel periodically to local distribution branches for assessments and support.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing an EHS program.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., safety trainer, OSHA-authorized) are a plus.
  • Experience with industrial wastewater treatment is preferred.
  • Background in food or beverage manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for facility assessments, conferences, and departmental meetings.
  • Additional duties as assigned by corporate or plant leadership.
