Job summary

A local authority in Essex is seeking a Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer. Overview

One of our Essex-based local authority clients is looking for a Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team

Position

Position: Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer
Contract Duration:6 months (with potential for extension)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on site 2 days WFH)
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time (22 hours per week)

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and property owners regarding housing regulations and requirements.
  • Investigate and address complaints related to housing conditions and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
  • Carry out risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards in residential properties.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a local authority.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of HHSRS and the Housing Act 2004.
  • Experience with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload efficiently.
