Qualifications

The role

As an Environmental Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be the site’s environmental subject matter expert - shaping strategy, strengthening compliance and championing best practice across a major marine engineering environment. You’ll help us manage environmental risk, maintain and improve our ISO Environmental Management System, and investigate incidents so we continually learn and reduce impact. In short, you’ll protect our local environment while enabling programmes that are vital to defence, aerospace and engineering -work with purpose, scope and real career impact.

Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:

  • Lead site‑wide environmental advice and coaching for employees and contractors, acting as a key point of contact for the HSE function.
  • Maintain and improve our ISO : Environmental Management System, audits and assurance.
  • Manage compliance with environmental legislation, permits and licences; liaise with regulators (including SEPA) and partners.
  • Investigate and learn from incidents and near misses (e.g., spills and discharges), driving corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct site inspections and walkdowns, analyse trends and data, and report on performance and risk.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Friday and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Environmental Advisor
  • Strong knowledge of UK and Scottish environmental legislation, regulation and best practice (including SEPA guidance)
  • Proven ability to investigate environmental incidents and manage environmental risks.
  • Confident influencer and coach with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental permits and licences.
Qualifications for the Environmental Advisor
  • Level 3 or Level 5 Environmental Management qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
