Environment Programme Risk Lead
Circa £47,093 dependent on skills and experience
Permanent, 37 hours per week
Peterborough or Huntingdon, minimum 1-2 days in the office per week

This exciting role focuses on influencing the environmental regulatory framework, taking a lead on discussions relating to WINEP (Water Industry National Environment Programme), customer environmental expectations, and environmental policy development.

A key part of this role will be to ensure that regulatory sign-off is achieved for all WINEP obligations through the successful tracking and management of non-delivery risk, and leading the evidencing of meeting regulatory requirements.

This role will be responsible for regular reporting and rapid escalation of risk through exiting business structures and governance reporting routes, supporting the WINEP reporting strategy and deputising as and when at senior meetings.

Given the technical focus of this role, you will have the ability to develop technical excellence through digestion of regulatory guidance and process documentation, proactive industry engagement, and a positive attitude towards continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for the change management process and the sign off process and take them to the business making sure they are understood.
  • Reporting and escalation of risk, data management, tracking and interpretation.
  • Maintain effective engagement and process leadership to provide assurance to the business that obligations will be met.
  • Coordination of internal stakeholders to ensure that justification is accurate and ownership of regulatory liaison provides confidence, where there are unavoidable risks.
  • Support and maintain accurate processes and records relating to the progress and risk associated with WINEP obligation delivery.
  • Clearly communicate across programmes of work within WINEP, providing visibility and regular updates as required.
  • Support the tracking and management of WINEP delivery risk through open-communication with delivery teams and technical leads across the business.
  • Lead the development of evidence packs for scheme delivery, to be utilised both to satisfy obligation sign-off/audit requirements and to support the creation of case studies.
