English Teacher, Cardiff – Secondary School

Location: Cardiff, South Wales

Rate of Pay: Minimum of £172.98 (pay to scale)

We are recruiting a qualified English Teacher for a thriving English‑medium, mixed 11–18 community secondary school and sixth form located in the western suburbs of Cardiff. The school serves a diverse and growing population, with over 900 pupils on roll and a strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and achievement for every learner. The site offers modern facilities to enable growth and development for both pupils and staff.

Role Responsibilities
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment giving pupils the confidence to excel in both written and verbal communication.
  • Deliver high quality English lessons that promote a love of reading, writing and literacy skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, supporting staff in the delivery of cross‑curricular projects and activities.
  • Access students’ progress ensuring individualized support is given wherever needed.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive and safe classroom setting that promotes mutual respect and encourages participation.
  • Support pupils who may have special educational needs and implement strategies to help them succeed in English.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level in the UK.
  • A passion for English education and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and classroom management skills.
  • Strong ability to differentiate lessons effectively to meet and support the needs of learners with Additional Learning Needs.
