An outstanding secondary school in Hounslow is looking for a School Librarian / Library Manager, starting September 2024. Permanent, salary £24,000–£30,000.

As the School Librarian you will ensure the library is at the heart of school life, developing a culture of reading across the school and community and driving reading progress. The library is a central resource for curriculum development and fostering lifelong love of reading.

Additionally, aspiring English teachers can take advantage of salaried and funded teacher training starting September 2026.

Role Details

• Lead the delivery of an outstanding library and resources for secondary students.
• Recommend books to students from the library’s collection of 7,000 titles.
• Manage and maintain the school library and all its resources.
• Identify and purchase quality resources to meet the needs of the National Curriculum and provide an age‑appropriate, challenging, diverse and inclusive reading offer.
• Teach pupils how to use the library and choose books happily.
• Promote enjoyment of reading and excitement about books to all pupils.
• Create a warm, welcoming climate in the library and across the school to support happy, successful learning.
• Support pupils working outside of class and after school with their reading and learning.
• Run reading interventions that help pupils read, comprehend and love reading.
• Salary £24,000–£28,000 per annum.
• Working just 200 days of the calendar year.
• 36‑hour working week.
