Job summary

A leading defense technology company in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking an Engineering Manager for Materials Technology. This role involves managing a specialized team of metallurgists and coordinating efforts with key stakeholders including Rolls Royce and the Ministry of Defence. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Metallurgy or related fields and experience in research and development projects. Qualifications

  • Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Materials Engineering or Welding.
  • Experience of research and development projects and or project management.
  • Good understanding of UKAS laboratory environments.
  • Holds a Chartership or evidence of working towards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a specialised team with metallurgists, non-metallics, and welding engineers.
  • Ensure technical mentoring within the department.
  • Work with stakeholders including Rolls Royce and the Ministry Of Defence.
  • Responsible for Materials, Corrosion and Welding authorities.
  • Input into Defence Standards.
  • Coordinate peer reviews of departmental deliverables.

Skills

Degree in Metallurgy
Experience of research and development projects
Understanding of UKAS laboratory environments
Chartership or in progress
