Job description
Engineering Manager

Based in Spaldington, between York and Hull this position is for a hands‑on, multi‑skilled Engineering Manager within a very fast‑moving food environment.

The business operates 365 days a year and you will be managing a team of four. The factory opens at 0600 and closes at 1800, 7 days a week and your team will be working across all shifts.

A family‑run business with a very stable SLT, they run approximately 130 permanent employees.

Engineering work mainly on bespoke equipment ensuring planned and preventative maintenance as the main focus of the workload. Your team consists of a mechanical specialist, electrical, PPM and a junior.

Your role is to ensure the factory plant and equipment are available, maintained and in good working order to produce the output required. You will also look continuously for improvement capabilities.

You will be managing the maintenance schedules and your team. Around 65% of your day will be hands‑on, fixing breakdowns as well as looking at the efficiency and output of the machines. Having come from a similar role, you will need to have work experience in a similar FMCG/food production environment.

Qualifications

Problem‑solving and fault‑finding bias, with qualifications equalling at least 17th edition and relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering.
