We're working with a long-established manufacturer of industrial vacuum and material handling systems to support the appointment of a permanent Engineering Manager to lead their technical function from their site in Fareham.

About the Role

This is a key leadership role overseeing all technical activities across design, R&D, and manufacturing support. You'll lead a small team of engineers, taking ownership of project delivery, product improvement, and new development initiatives while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

The role combines technical leadership and hands‑on engineering, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer ready to step into a management position or a current manager seeking a new challenge in a specialist manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering department, setting priorities and managing workloads
• Provide technical oversight across product design, testing, and development
• Support continuous improvement across products, processes, and systems
• Ensure compliance with relevant machinery safety and quality standards
• Work closely with operations to support efficient manufacturing and assembly processes
• Drive technical problem solving, innovation, and product development

What We're Looking For

• Background in electronic, electrical, or electro‑mechanical engineering
• Practical experience in a technical or manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes
• Familiarity with 2D / 3D CAD tools
