Engineering Maintenance Specialist – Mechanical – NHS – Central London – £37,259–£45,355 + Benefits

We’re recruiting for a leading NHS Trust in Central London who are seeking an Engineering Maintenance Specialist – Mechanical to join their Estates & Facilities team. This is a permanent role where you’ll manage and maintain a wide range of critical hospital engineering systems, ensuring services run safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an Authorised Person in your mechanical discipline.
  • Diagnose, repair and maintain boilers, ventilation, steam and medical gas systems.
  • Lead on emergency call-outs (part of the on-call rota).
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices.
  • Liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams during maintenance and service interruptions.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Team Manager when required.
Requirements
  • Strong mechanical engineering background (healthcare or large estates desirable).
  • Experience with complex mechanical plant (boilers, HVAC, medical gases).
  • Authorised Person status (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Ability to lead, prioritise and problem-solve effectively.
  • Flexible to participate in on-call rota.
