Job description
Overview

A Engineering and Projects Manager to oversee the shared engineering team and complex projects for two plants, focusing on delivering technical solutions, managing budgets, ensuring quality, and fostering team development. Strategic leadership, stakeholder management, process improvement, resource planning, and mentoring staff to achieve departmental and organizational goals, while maintaining standards for safety, quality, and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Managing engineering budgets.
  • Develop the capabilities of your team to build a high performing workforce with a culture of delivery and accountability.
  • Drive engineering work planning via CMMS, backlog management.
  • Implement, drive and sustain world class manufacturing standards throughout the engineering teams.
  • Drive local execution of optimisation programs with Aircrete focus.
  • Delivery of the Managed Maintenance System.
  • Ensure Investment and Capex Projects of up to £5m are identified, scoped, approved and delivered on time within budget.
  • Monitor team / individual development and training needs, developing the team and creating succession plans.
  • Create a positive working environment and culture, developing a productive workforce and addressing any performance management concerns.
  • Experience of managing budgets and understanding P&L accounts.
  • Managed large teams in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate making significant changes in difficult environments.
  • Experience of union negotiations.
  • 5+ years' experience as an engineering manager or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes within a heavy engineering setting.
  • Experience with management of Safety.
  • Legal compliance.
  • Degree qualified - preferably in an engineering function.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH would also be an advantage.
