Job Title: Engineer - Proposals (Electrical/Avionics) - Aircraft Modifications
Location: Frimley, Surrey, UK
Salary: £51,000 - £56,000 DOE
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Proposal Engineer to join our global aircraft modifications team. This role involves developing customer aircraft modification proposals, primarily focusing on cabin electrical systems, in-flight entertainment (IFE), connectivity, and avionics. You will collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Program Management, Sales, and Contracts teams, supporting project delivery with technical documentation, cost, and schedule estimates.

This is a fast-paced role requiring excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer requests for proposals (RFPs) and assist in bid/no-bid decisions based on capability and business strategy.
  • Support the development of modification requirements and statements of work.
  • Research and develop bills of materials using internal systems and customer data.
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies, establishing assumptions and limitations.
  • Collaborate with departments to confirm task hours and compile proposal estimates.
  • Support tracking of active RFPs and handover meetings to Program Management and customers.
  • Occasionally travel domestically or internationally as required.
Required Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the aviation/aerospace or related industry.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, including IFE, connectivity, and avionics.
  • Understanding of EASA CS25 requirements applicable to electrical and avionics systems.
  • Experience with commercial aircraft interiors is desirable.
  • Previous work within an EASA Part 21J design organisation is beneficial.
Education

Recognized aeronautical or engineering degree.

Language

Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
