Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Rochester, a Category C men's prison.

Team Environment

Join a supportive team working Monday to Friday/Sunday to create a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Rochester operates like a self-contained city, requiring many staff to ensure its smooth functioning. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your work impacts prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Opportunities

You will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to maintaining a safe environment.

Candidate Requirements
  • At least two years' experience in a plumbing or related role
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Qualification as a plumber (C&G 6035, C&G 6189, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
