Job description
Overview

Stantec is seeking an Engineer to join our Rivers and Coastal Management team in Glasgow or Edinburgh. We offer flexibility between home and office work to support work‑life balance and effective teamwork.

We work with a range of clients across the UK on public and private sector projects, including flood alleviation, natural flood management and surface water management, and residential‑led mixed‑use developments and major infrastructure schemes. Flood risk and the water environment are key considerations in many projects, and we provide creative and innovative nature‑based solutions that protect people and promote sustainable development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide robust and creative advice to existing clients as part of multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Play an essential role in projects including flood alleviation, flood risk assessment and surface water drainage and SuDS strategies for regeneration, urban expansion and large infrastructure schemes.
  • Deliver and review technical work, such as hydrological and hydraulic analysis, flood risk reports, drainage strategies and InfoDrainage calculations.
About You
  • As a successful candidate, hold a BSc, BEng, or MEng degree in civil engineering or a related field, or be a qualified water management consultant.
  • Ideally Incorporated or Chartered with a relevant professional body or actively working towards chartership.
  • Experience in some or all of the following areas: surface water and foul water drainage design, design of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and nature‑based solutions, drainage network modelling using Microdrainage or Infodrainage, flood risk assessment, hydraulic modelling using ICM, Flood Modeller, or TUFLOW, Water Framework Directive (WFD) assessment, and geomorphology.
  • Experience in design of flood protection measures from pre‑planning through to detailed construction phases.
  • Strong report‑writing and client‑facing skills; ability to work across multiple complex projects. A passion for delivering quality design solutions, ambition, forward‑thinking and a desire to develop your career.
