You'll join either our Electronics Engineering or Missile Architecture functions. Both require the same technical foundation and are technical roles, but responsible for different elements of the design:
Electronic Engineering looks at subsystem hardware level interactions and detailed designs, whereas Missile Architecture focuses on system-level design and integration.
The Electronics Engineering placement involves project work that encompasses the complete lifecycle of a product, therefore you could be involved with some or all the different stages of the lifecycle, offering a wide variety of work.
You'll be supporting exciting projects in aspects such as:
Generating ideas and capturing requirements
Design work in terms of architecture design and detailed design
Exposure to hardware integration with other modules by collaboratively working in multidisciplinary teams
Both iterative prototype testing and final product testing
Your placements could range from Power Electronics, RF & Antenna Design, Analogue & Digital Electronics, PCB layout to Testing & Evaluation. With hands-on and theoretical work your skills will be challenged and developed with support from our highly experienced and engaging teams.
Missile Architecture function roles involve defining electrical topology, interfaces and system-level design of missiles, and managing missile electrical/electronic sub-systems and their integration to build the missile defence systems of tomorrow.
As an Undergraduate in Electrical Missile Architecture you will:
Work on projects at all stages of the Engineering Product Lifecycle
Gain exposure to a wide array of sub-systems and technologies
Work with a wide range of Engineering functions and stakeholders to negotiate, integrate and deliver
During your placements you will have opportunities to work on design and specification of missile systems, including design and performance trade-off studies, influencing delivery of bespoke electrical/electronic subsystems (e.g., Control Units, Power Supply Units, Datalinks, etc.) and assisting in testing of components and missiles during development.
Through our recruitment process we will work with you to ascertain the best function for you to join, taking into consideration any preference you may have.
