Overview
Electrician (Solar/Renewables) – Full time, Crawley, West Sussex. Start Date: ASAP. Duration: Permanent. Sector: Renewable Energy.
Salary: From £45,000 + Package (Van + Fuel Card).
Responsibilities
- Talk to clients and customers, carry out the work and put their needs first
- Leave homes clean and safe and obtain tenant signatures when the job is finished
- Work closely with team members and the wider company network
- Drive and take good care of vehicles
- Keep a record of activities and deliveries
- Install, test, and commission domestic and/or commercial solar PV systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Work with DC and AC circuits, inverters, isolators, and fault finding
- Familiarity with remote monitoring systems, data loggers, and apps
- Understand health and safety protocols, RAMS, and building regulations
- Comply with UK building regulations and DNO requirements
- Report faulty appliances or installations that do not meet safety regulations
- Operate machinery and equipment safely with appropriate safety devices
- Handle transport materials safely
- Look after tools, materials and equipment
- Report asbestos findings per company procedures
- Work in different environments, including confined spaces or at height using ladders/scaffolding
- Assess, plan and request materials needed to carry out the job
- Use measuring equipment to make calculations as required
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including drawings, diagrams and sketches
- Utilise provided tablets to capture all aspects of the work
- Carry out electrical works including tracing faults, routine safety checks, safety compliance, and programmed installations
- Repair or replace electrical fittings
- Work independently and as part of a team; be reliable and punctual
- Travel regionally (or nationally, depending on role) and flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English
- Completed recognised Electrical apprenticeship or appropriate full electrical qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391-52 (Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations)
- 18th Edition IEE
- MCS Accreditation knowledge or experience
- PAS 2030 familiarity (retrofit or funded work)
- G98/G99 understanding (grid connection regulations)
- Solar PV Qualifications (one of): City & Guilds 2399 (Solar PV Installation, historically recognised), LCL Awards Level 3, BPEC Solar PV Installer Course ECS Gold Card
- Experience and competence across Electrical discipline with full toolset
- Geographical knowledge of local areas (Desirable)
- Experience in social housing environment (Desirable)
- Confident in confined spaces; good health and safety knowledge
- Strong customer care focus and ability to deliver excellent service
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good communication, organisation skills and a flexible approach
- Punctuality and reliability
- Commitment to equality and diversity
- Valid Driving Licence
